Vita Marino

I began working for the district in the Special Services Department at Spotswood Board of Education nearly 18 years ago! In this role, I supported the Director Of Special Services and the Child Study Team. After many years of hard work and dedication, I was promoted to Administrative Assistant to the Business Administrator, taking on tasks including Payroll, Transportation, Purchasing, and aiding in the Budget Preparation. I decided to continue my education and complete my Master’s Degree in Education Leadership for Business Administrator. This accomplishment led to my School Business Administrator Certificate of Eligibility.  In 2014,  I was then offered the position of Business Administrator / Board Secretary.

Projects I am proud to have spearheaded include the 2015/2016 School Year Referendum; which encompassed roof repair and replacement, improvements to heating and ventilation systems, and additional air conditioning units. Additionally, the project replaced 40 year old locker rooms and bleachers, and  updated the track and football field as well. The District can now be proud to possess enhanced telecommunication features that connect us to the Spotswood Police Department, upgraded fire alarm systems, and increased security camera coverage and upgrades.  With all these improvements, Spotswood School District was able to save $1.2 million! Because of this savings, no tax impact was felt by the community!

I am excited to begin the 2017/2018 School year Referendum which includes security updates to Memorial Middle School as well as a long-term solution to the heating at Appleby School. All at no tax-impact to the community of Spotswood.

In addition to the Referendum, I develop and roll out the Fiscal Year Budget ensuring Spotswood School DIstrict is fiscally responsible in its purchasing and spending. I also meet with vendors to discuss future projects, and make it a priority to meet with various Board of Education committees to ensure our School District is running cohesively. In my free time, I am an avid reader and enjoy spending time with family.
