Appleby Student Wins Second Place in SIFMA Foundation’s Stock Market Game

E Raymond Appleby Elementary School, located in Spotswood, New Jersey for the fifth time has earned recognition for having a top team in the SIFMA Foundation’s Stock Market Game. Jeremiah Marie, a fifth grader has earned second place for the second time this year in the Elementary School Division for the Spring and Fall 2021 New Jersey North Stock Market Games.

As part of the Stock Market Game, 40 New Jersey North elementary school teams were given a hypothetical portfolio of $100,000 to invest over a 10-week period. The game is designed to provide students from all backgrounds with an understanding of the financial markets so they can choose to become future financial professionals or informed savers and investors.

The Stock Market academic enrichment program is part of E Raymond Appleby School’s Enrichment Studies Program (ESP) taught by Paige Besthoff, Teacher of the Gifted and Talented program. This class is a weekly pull-out class in addition to a student's regular math lessons in the classroom. The program focuses on financial literacy and investing. Students complete industry research and stock trades at home. Appleby students look forward to participating in the upcoming Spring session and we know that they will excel.
