Transportation

If your child left something on the bus, you should contact the main office of the school your child attends and let them know the details of what was left behind. The school will contact the transportation department to see if the item was located and how it will be returned to the student.

Bus transportation is for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade who meet the distance eligibility requirements for bus transportation per the NJ DOE:

All resident public elementary school students (grades K–8) who live more than 2 miles from their school and all public secondary school students (grades 9–12) who live more than 2 ½ miles from their school are entitled to transportation.  

Students are assigned their stop based on their primary address in Genesis. Bus routes are generated in August for the upcoming school year, and will be published in the Bus Tab of the student Genesis Account.   
 

Student specific route and pickup times are located in the Bus Tab of the student Genesis Account if your child is eligible for bus transportation. It is asked that students and parents are at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the published pickup/drop off times to allow for traffic fluctuations. Also, all students in grade K-2 are asked to have an adult meet them at the bus stop for drop off each day. 

No, for insurance and safety reasons, drivers are not allowed to transport students that are not assigned to their specific route.

If the bus does not arrive at the stop at the published time, we ask that you wait 10-15 minutes to assure there was not a traffic issue. In certain situations (half-days, delayed openings) the buses may be running behind schedule. If it still has not arrived, please contact the main office of the school your child attends to let them know the bus has not come, and they will contact the transportation department.

If your student doesn’t get off the bus as planned, please contact the school your child attends to see if they missed the bus, or stayed behind due to an after-school activity.

Drivers are instructed to bring any student without a parent or guardian at pickup (Grades K-2), back to the school after they have completed their route. If you will not be at pickup on time and have no one else available to meet your child, please contact the school your child attends to let them know. The school will contact the transportation department who will inform the driver no one will be at pickup, and to transport the student back to the school.
