Every Student Succeeds Act
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is the federal law that guides K-12 education in the United States. ESSA requires that all students be taught to high academic standards and includes protections to ensure equity and support for disadvantaged and high-need students. The law provides funding and resources to help schools strengthen instruction, close achievement gaps, and prepare all students for college and career success.
Spotswood receives funding through Title I, Title II, Title III, and Title IV grants, which allow us to provide a variety of supports for both students and teachers across the district. These federal grants help us increase student offerings and provide enhanced educational opportunities beyond what district operating budgets alone would support, including academic interventions, enrichment programs, instructional materials, and professional development that strengthen teaching and learning across all four schools.
